We are brought together by a common desire to find out more of the history and archaeology of the last two hundred and fifty years since the industrial revolution. In particular, but by no means exclusively, Norfolk industry, its buildings and plant, products, workers and personalities; and to ensure they are recorded for posterity. In effect any way people have lived, worked, shopped, played or prayed, for the last 250 years or so, is of interest to our members, and in some cases we go back much further.

Our name may be large, but we are a friendly membership society, whose members have for over 50 years brought their individual skills, knowledge and interests to further our aims and objectives. The study of industrial history and industrial archaeology are areas where the amateur can still contribute as much as any professional.  However, should you wish to only come to our talks or visits you will be just as welcome; as indeed you will be if you wish to receive our publications and support us with your membership.

We have a wide programme of events; including monthly talks, site visits, archaeological field meetings,  but just as importantly, social activities.  See diary page for details. Most years we hold about 10 meetings with no additional charges. Our in person meetings include coffee and biscuits and a chance to socialise.

We send members a PDF newsletter, a printed journal and other publications.  Members may also opt in to receive email news from us.  Members may also buy our other publications at reduced prices.

We have a low subscription and no charge for meetings.
